One of the best retro game shops in the UK is for certain, Doorway to Dorkness.
Although a bit tricky to find, the store is truly an Aladdin’s cave of games, consoles, microcomputers, and accessories.
There’s also a good selection of 80s/90s toys and memorabilia, but this site is about retrogames, so let’s stick to that.
I was made aware of the store from Youtube’s gerfiest retro collector, ‘Gold2th Gaming‘, and by complete randomness, Gold2th himself was there, which made it an even more excellent trip!
I ended up purchasing an excellent PC Engine console with attached screen, a Spectrum 48k, and a ZX80.
Worth Driving for Retro?
Some game stores have a small selection of retro games and consoles, and you can fall in to the trap of traveling a long way for just a few items, but this is certainly not the case at Doorway to Dorkness, where you can spend a few hours at least (which I did).
You can find Doorway to Dorkness at 4a Sandford Rd, Balby, Doncaster DN4 8PL.
